India has joined the elite club by planting its tricolor flag on the Moon on 14th November 2008. The probe was ejected on to the surface of the moon from Chandrayan the spacecraft which is orbiting the Moon. The probe also took pictures and gathered other data as it crash landed in the Moon's south pole region.
